Mesa, AZ: what's different here
Mesa sits in Maricopa County, Arizona, about 5 miles and roughly 9 minutes by car from Tempe via the main highway. That short drive means Tempe-based pool pros regularly work Mesa jobs. Mesa's own pool-drain rules matter here: the city caps discharge to the sanitary sewer at 12 gallons per minute and requires permits for plumbing modifications.
How long does draining connected to pool deck drain work take in Mesa?
Mesa's pool-drain guidance shows the job runs in hours, not minutes. A 10,000-gallon pool takes about 14 to 28 hours to drain at 12 to 6 gallons per minute, and a 15,000-gallon pool takes about 21 to 42 hours. The City of Mesa caps the recommended discharge rate to the sanitary sewer at 12 gallons per minute.
Does pool deck drain work need a permit in Mesa?
Mesa requires a plumbing permit for new plumbing installations and modifications to existing plumbing. The city lists a flat all-inclusive residential in-ground pool or spa permit fee of $330. Ask the pro whether your drain work falls under that permit.
What license should a Mesa pool deck drain pro hold?
Arizona requires a contractor license when labor and materials exceed $1,000, or when a permit is required regardless of price. The CR-6 Swimming Pool Service and Repair classification covers both commercial and residential pool service and repair, including waste lines. Verify the license through the Arizona Registrar of Contractors.
How much does monthly pool service cost near Mesa?
A chemical pool service typically costs about $50 per month for an average-size pool. That covers routine chemical balancing rather than drain or deck drain work. Get both priced separately in your quote.
