What should I do today if my pool is turning green?
Act now, since algae can bloom in 3–4 days in an untreated summer pool. Keep the pump running and check that the filter is clean. Then call a local pro for a green pool cleanup rather than waiting for the water to clear on its own.
What does a weekly pool service cost in Tempe?
A weekly pool cleaning service in Tempe is commonly listed at around $86 per month, or about $1,032 per year. Use that figure to budget before you pick a new provider. Compare quotes that state whether chemicals and filter cleaning are included.
What should I check before hiring a new pool pro?
Ask the pro for proof of licence and insurance before any work starts. Arizona's CR-6 Swimming Pool Service and Repair classification covers servicing and minor repair of residential pools. Verify the licence with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors. Get the scope, schedule and price in writing.
Why do Tempe pools go green so fast?
Tempe's hottest month is July, with an average high of 106°F and an average low of 84°F. Heat speeds algae growth, so pools here need steady service. The City of Tempe says its pools are open year-round, so they are generally kept running rather than winterized.
What to do next

- Ask the pro for proof of licence and insurance, and check the Arizona Registrar of Contractors for CR-6 Swimming Pool Service and Repair classification.
- Request a written quote that lists the green cleanup price ($250–$600) and whether weekly service is included.
